What we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Draft — not yet in force

This document is a structural draft. It has not been reviewed by a solicitor, and the registered company details and data controller contact that UK law requires have not yet been supplied. Do not rely on it, and replace it before launch.

Who we are

Kudu Digital is the data controller for personal data collected through this site. Our registered details and the contact point for data protection enquiries are set out at the end of this policy.

What we collect

We collect as little as we can. In practice that falls into two categories.

  • Information you send us. If you email us or use a contact link, we receive whatever you choose to include — typically your name, your email address and what you are asking about.
  • Information collected automatically. Standard technical data such as pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, referring site, and device and browser type.

Why we use it

To reply to enquiries, to carry out work we have been engaged to do, to keep the site secure and working, and to understand in aggregate which parts of the site are useful.

We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

Our lawful basis

For replying to enquiries and carrying out work, our lawful basis is legitimate interests, or the performance of a contract where one exists. For anything optional, such as non-essential analytics, our basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who else sees it

We use third-party providers for hosting, email and analytics. They process data on our instructions, and only to provide those services.

PLACEHOLDER: list the actual providers here, and note any transfer of personal data outside the UK together with the safeguard relied on.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as there is a live conversation and a reasonable period afterwards. Records relating to work carried out are kept for as long as legally required.

PLACEHOLDER: state your actual retention periods.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. You can exercise any of these by contacting us.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This site uses only what is necessary to function unless you consent to more. Where non-essential cookies or analytics are used, you will be asked first and can change your mind at any time.

PLACEHOLDER: reconcile this with whatever analytics you actually deploy, and add a consent mechanism if you use anything non-essential.
